About
In my scholarship and teaching, I try to learn about the ways in which literary texts help give modern writers and readers the feeling of being in contact with the reality of the tangible world. I am at work on a book about the sense of touch in eighteenth-century British literature. More generally, I’m interested in poetry and poetics; literary theory and criticism; the experience of modernities (early and late); psychoanalysis, particularly as it tries to relate subjects to objects; ways of thinking about reading as therapeutic; and pedagogy.
